Floating Home

Here’s a sneak peak at an exciting, new project for the Hofmann Architecture team. It’s a 3-level floating home docked in the Marina del Rey Harbor. We’ve been hired to design and remodel the interior and exterior. The client plans to live on the floating home full-time.

The bright blue paddle wheel motif has a unique appeal... so, what can I say?

This unique home features three levels with decks and walkways on all four sides.

Is this a "home" or a "boat" -- hm-m-m? The blurry designation opens the door to an ocean of design options.

Indeed, the floating home is harbor-worthy and can be moved from slip to slip as desired.

This living space sports open beam ceilings and an abundance of view possibilities.

The outdated look of the closed-in-cul-de-sac-style kitchen will be transformed into a sociable and inviting central hub.

Another sitting area.

The owners welcome guests aboard from their third floor observation deck.

Peace and quiet reign from every corner of this floating paradise.

There's no complaining about the neighbors in this tranquil neighborhood.

A dusty blue eve melts into the deep blue sea from the master bedroom window.

The views don't set with the sun. The night sky views are, literally, out of this world.
